A tour is a slot with a number on it. Twelve on the ten o'clock walk, six in the boat — and by Friday that count is living in a notebook, a WhatsApp thread and whatever a booking site has told you.

Clay puts the count on your own page. You set how long a tour runs and how many go at once; the site offers the departures your hours allow, and stops offering one the moment its places are gone.

How the count works

A place is a booking

Twelve at once means twelve bookings on that departure, and the thirteenth is refused rather than taken and sorted out at the meeting point. The days you do not run are never offered, and a one-off closure is a date you block.

It counts bookings, not heads, and that is the honest limit: a couple who want two places make two bookings. A tour is never asked how many of you there are — that question belongs to a restaurant table — so a per-person price cannot be reached from here.

Questions

Can two people book one place together?

No — places are counted one at a time, so a couple takes two bookings and a family of four takes four. There is no how-many-of-you box on a tour and no per-person price. If a party size in one booking is what you need, that is table booking.

What do I do when I cancel for the weather?

You send the messages. Clay will not cancel a departure for you, and nobody can move a booking to another day: block the date so nobody else books it, then ring or write to the people who did. Their name, phone and email are on every booking.

Is money taken when somebody books a place?

No. Nothing in the booking touches a card — a deposit can only be set on a restaurant table — so a place is booked here and paid at the meeting point. Put the price on the page; the confirmation email carries what and when.

Where does the meeting point go?

In your own words on the tour, and on the Visit page, where the map is drawn from your own coordinates with a directions link out to Google Maps. It is not a field the confirmation fills in for you, so write it where people read it: the hours and the map.

Does booking come with the free site?

No. The site is free and live at your own address, but taking bookings on it is Pro, at €49 a month ex-VAT — a free site draws the form and the server then refuses the booking. The photographs, the hours and the reviews are free.
