Booked by the chair

A real Clay site — built from a Google listing

For barbers, nail bars, massage, brows, tattoo studios — anywhere the day is a row of appointments and a no-show is the whole slot.

Takes ~32 seconds · no sign-up or credit card required

The economics of a chair are unforgiving: an empty forty minutes cannot be sold later. Which is why the two things that matter are that people can book without ringing, and that the ones who book turn up.

Clay does both on your own site. Services with real lengths and prices, the times you actually work, and a deposit on the ones where it is worth taking.

The day

Your services set the shape

A cut is thirty minutes, colour is two hours, a set of gels is fifty minutes. Give each service its length and the slots fall out of it — no two bookings can overlap and nothing is offered after you have gone home.

No-shows

A deposit, only where it earns its place

Per service. Take one on the two-hour colour and not on the fringe trim — the point is to protect the slots that hurt, not to put a card form in front of every booking.

What you get

One person or a team

Set the hours the shop is open; services are booked against the room's capacity.

Your reviews are on the same page

The stars from your Google listing sit above the booking, which is where they do the most work.

In your own language

The site is generated in the language of the country the business is in, including the booking wording.

What you get

Services with real lengths and prices
Deposits where a no-show costs you
Customers reschedule themselves
No commission and no booking-platform listing

Questions

Can I take bookings for more than one chair?

The engine books against capacity rather than against a named person — so a shop with three chairs can take three at once. Per-stylist booking is not there yet.

What if somebody wants a time I do not offer?

Your phone number and WhatsApp are on the same page. Booking online is meant to remove the easy calls, not all of them.

Do deposits go to Clay?

No. They are taken by Stripe into your own account, and Clay takes no fee per booking.

Can I close a day at short notice?

Yes — close the day and the slots stop being offered immediately. Anybody already booked still has their booking, and you have their number.

Does the customer get a confirmation?

Yes, with the service, the time, the place and a link to move or cancel it themselves. You get one too, with their address as the reply-to.

Can I block out time that is not a booking?

Close the hours and nothing is offered in them — a delivery, a school run or an afternoon off are all the same thing to the calendar: hours you are not there.

Do I get the customer's contact details?

Yes, on every booking, with their address as the reply-to so pressing Reply reaches them. They are your customer, not a marketplace's.
