One QR code, and the menu behind it is yours

A real Clay site — built from a Google listing

Most QR menus point at a PDF on somebody else's service. This one points at your own website, which you control and which is free.

Takes ~32 seconds · no sign-up or credit card required

The QR menu is one of the few things the last few years left behind that people genuinely use. What has not improved is what sits behind the code: a PDF on a third-party host, often with a subscription, sometimes with somebody else's advertising on it.

A Clay site is a web address, so the QR code is free and it belongs to you. Print it, and it opens a menu that reads properly on a phone, that you edit from behind the bar, and that also happens to be your whole website — hours, map, booking and all.

What the guest gets

It opens in under a second

No app, no download, no cookie banner over the starters. The page is server-rendered HTML with the photographs already sized, so it is readable before a PDF would have finished opening.

And because it is a website rather than a document, they can tap the address for directions or the number to call.

What it costs

Nothing, and no per-table fee

QR menu services charge monthly, and some charge per location or per table. A Clay site is free on your own address; the QR code is a picture of that address, which nobody can charge for.

If you later want the code to point at your own domain rather than a clay.site one, that is the paid plan and the code does not have to change.

What you get

Generate the code from the page

Your site's address is the code. Any free generator will make it, and it never expires because the address never changes.

Edit while the table waits

Sold out, a price, a special — changed on your phone and live on the next scan.

And it asks for the review

The same page carries your Google reviews and a link to leave one, which is the moment somebody is most likely to.

What you get

No subscription and no per-table charge
Not a PDF — a real page that opens instantly
Sold-out and prices editable from behind the bar
The same link works on the door, the flyer and the bio

Questions

How do I make the QR code?

Any free QR generator, pointed at your site's address. There is nothing to buy and nothing to renew — the code is just a picture of a URL.

What if I change my menu?

The code does not change. It points at the page; the page is what you edit.

Can I point it at my own domain?

Yes on a paid plan. Do it before you print if you can, though the clay.site address keeps working either way.

Does it work without internet?

No — it is a web page. Nor does a PDF-based QR menu; both need the guest's phone to be online.

Can the same code carry more than the menu?

It opens your whole site, so the hours, the map, the reviews and booking are all one tap from the table: the menu itself.

Do I need to print a new code if I move premises?

No. The code points at the address, and the address does not change when the content does — including when you move and update the map.

Can I see how many people scanned it?

Your site's own analytics count the visits, cookielessly, and you read them from your dashboard. There is no per-code tracking beyond that.
