A city of neighborhood tabernas, late-night terrazas and stubbornly independent corner cafés where the vermut hour and the after-work caña still shape daily rhythm.

Mornings run on café con leche and a plate of porras or churros dunked in thick chocolate, often standing at the barra. A wave of specialty roasters has taken over Malasaña and Chamberí, but locals still expect a tostada with tomato and good olive oil for breakfast. Whatever your café is known for, Clay turns your Google listing into a real website, photos, hours, reviews and a map, so people in Madrid find you and know what to expect before they visit.

A day that ends four hours later than the rest of Europe

Madrid's clock is genuinely different and it shows up in every hour on the page. Breakfast is at ten, lunch at half two, and a café in Malasaña or Chueca that closes at six has given away the part of the day the city is actually out.

The heat is the other half. July and August rearrange when anybody leaves the house, and a terrace that is unusable at two is full at nine.

Questions

How long does it really take?

Most people are live in two to three minutes, search your business, pick a style, publish. There is nothing to install and no signup needed to see your site first, because it is built from your Google listing rather than from a blank page.

Is it free?

Yes. You get a live site on your own name.clay.site address with a small badge in the footer, and nothing expires. The paid plan is your own domain, the badge removed and the pro features.

Do I need any tech skills?

None. If you can type your business name, you can build a Clay site: the live page is the editor, so you tap the thing you want to change. There is no code anywhere, and nothing to install or keep updated, see the WordPress comparison for what that saves.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, buy it wherever you like and point it at Clay on a paid plan; the certificate is issued for you. Until then the free name.clay.site address is a real one you can print, and it keeps working afterwards.

Our hours change in summer. Do I have to update the site as well as Google?

No, for your normal week, change it on your Google Business Profile and the site takes it, so there is one place it happened. Once the site is claimed Clay re-reads the listing and keeps the hours, the rating and the review count current in place.

Can the page show that we do vermut at midday and stay open late?

Yes. Split days are normal here, so a midday window and an evening one are two entries rather than a workaround, and the line at the top of the page says which one you are in right now. A taberna in Madrid is the case that rule was written for.

Can I show my menu?

Yes, Clay has a menu widget with sections, prices and photos. A café that generates from Google gets a menu block pre-filled, ready for you to tweak.
