A website for locksmiths, live in minutes

A real Clay site, built from a Google listing

Your customer is outside their own front door, on a phone that is about to die. Everything on the page is judged by that.

Takes less than a minute · no sign-up or credit card required

There is no other trade whose customer is standing in the cold while they read your website, and it changes every decision about what the page is.

So the page opens on the photograph and the number, and nothing sits above them. Clay builds it from your Google listing, serves it as plain HTML with the pictures already sized, and puts how long you will be and what you charge to turn out where somebody can read them in one glance.

Why Clay

a brass padlock on a metal door

It pulls your info from Google

No blank page. Clay reads your Google business listing and fills in your name, photos, hours, map and reviews automatically.

a bunch of keys on a ring

A real website, not just links

Menus, bookings, a shop, a gallery, contact, Clay is a full site that also works as a link-in-bio, not a list of buttons.

Yours to grow

Bring a custom domain, add pro widgets, run multiple sites. It scales from a bio link to a full business site.

The one thing

How long you will be

Every locksmith says twenty four hours and fast response. The one that gets rung is the one that says thirty minutes across the city, most nights, because a number is a promise and a phrase is not.

Under it, the call out charge. Somebody who has just been quoted three hundred pounds by the first result is looking for exactly that figure.

A photograph and a dial button, nothing above them
How long you will be, as a number
The call out charge, stated before they ring
Non destructive entry, said plainly, because it is the fear
Not only emergencies

The half of the work that gets planned

Lock changes after a move, safes, window locks and the certificate an insurer wants are all searched for calmly, in daylight, by somebody comparing two firms. They belong on the same page, lower down.

That half is also what a search engine finds you for outside the hours nobody is browsing.

What you can switch on

Every one of these is part of your site, not a plugin to install. Turn on what you use and leave the rest off.

How it works

1

Search your business

Type your name, Clay pulls your photos, hours, reviews and contact details straight from your Google listing.

2

Pick a style

Choose a look and Clay builds a full site around your content. Change anything with a tap, no code, no templates to wrestle.

3

You're online

Publish to your own name.clay.site in minutes. Add a custom domain and connect your own tools whenever you're ready.

What you get

  • The photograph and the number, first thing on the screen
  • How long you will be, as an actual number
  • The call out charge, before they ring
  • The planned work too, which is what gets found in daylight

Questions

How long does it really take?

Most people are live in two to three minutes, search your business, pick a style, publish. There is nothing to install and no signup needed to see your site first, because it is built from your Google listing rather than from a blank page.

Is it free?

Yes. You get a live site on your own name.clay.site address with a small badge in the footer, and nothing expires. The paid plan is your own domain, the badge removed and the pro features.

Do I need any tech skills?

None. If you can type your business name, you can build a Clay site: the live page is the editor, so you tap the thing you want to change. There is no code anywhere, and nothing to install or keep updated, see the WordPress comparison for what that saves.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, buy it wherever you like and point it at Clay on a paid plan; the certificate is issued for you. Until then the free name.clay.site address is a real one you can print, and it keeps working afterwards.

Does the page load fast enough for somebody on one bar?

It is server rendered HTML with the photographs already sized to the screen, so there is nothing to run before the number is on the display. That is the whole reason a locksmith's site should not be a builder's template.

Should I put my prices on it?

The call out charge, yes. It is the single most searched thing about your trade, and being the firm that says it is most of the reason somebody rings you and not the paid advert above you.

Can I show that I am approved or vetted?

Yes, as text rather than as a badge image. A Master Locksmiths Association number or your own country's equivalent is worth more written out, because it can then be read by a search engine and by a screen reader.
