A jobs page that says the pay and the hours

The two facts every applicant is looking for are the two most ads leave out.

Takes less than a minute · no sign-up or credit card required
A real Clay site, built from a Google listing

Somebody looking for work in a kitchen or on a floor is reading twelve ads on a phone during a break, and most of them say the same nothing about a fast paced team.

So the page carries the job, the hours, the rate and the start. An applicant who knows all four before applying is one who actually wants the job, and the ones who would have dropped out at the interview never come.

The four facts

Pay, hours, start, and what the shift is

A rate, a shift pattern, when it starts and what the work actually is. Everything else can wait for the reply, and none of it is read by anybody deciding whether to apply.

If the pay is a range, give the range. No figure at all is read as the low end of whatever the reader is imagining.

Open positions
Chef de partieFull time, 5 days
€2,400 a month

€14 an hour
Reception, eveningsMon to Thu, 16:00 to 22:00
€13 an hour
The reply

One form and one address

Name, phone, and a line about what they have done. Asking for a document upload from somebody on a phone at eleven at night loses most of them.

Say when you will reply, and then do it. In hospitality the business that answers within a day usually wins the good applicant outright.

What you get

The rate, written down

A figure or a range. Leaving it out costs you the applicants who could not afford to guess.

The actual shift pattern

Which days, which hours. Flexible means nothing and hides a rota nobody wanted.

A form, not an upload

Name, phone and a line. A document request from a phone is where most applications stop.

What it looks like when it is live

Drawn rather than described, the page, the address, and what it can switch on.

Questions

Do I have to put the pay on it?

You do not, and you will get fewer and worse applications. No number is read as the low end of whatever they were imagining.

What if the hours vary?

Say the range and the pattern. Flexible on its own reads as unpredictable, which is the thing people leave jobs over.

Should I ask for a CV?

Not on the first form. Name, phone and a line about what they have done, then ask for whatever else you need in the reply.

Where else should the page go?

In the window, on the receipt, and in the bio. It is one address, and it is the same one on every one of those.

Can I take applications when nothing is open?

Yes, and say so on the page. A good chef with nowhere to send their name is one you never hear from again.

How many jobs should be on it?

All the ones that are really open. A page of three vacancies looks like a business that is growing; a page of eleven looks like one that cannot keep anybody.

Does this replace a job board?

No, and it does not have to. It is the page the board's ad links to, where the detail lives: what the contact page carries.
