Painters & decorators

A website for decorators, built on before and after

Nobody can picture what you are going to do to their hallway. Show them the last one.

Takes less than a minute · no sign-up or credit card required
a decorator standing by paint tins A real Clay site, built from a Google listing

Decorating is the one trade where the finished job looks like it was always meant to be that colour, which is exactly why it needs the photograph of what was there before.

Clay builds the page from your Google listing and gives the work the full measure: pairs of photographs, a line under each saying the room and the finish, and a short form under them. Your area, your reviews and your hours sit below, where somebody who has already decided goes looking.

Why Clay

a roller painting turquoise on a wall

It pulls your info from Google

No blank page. Clay reads your Google business listing and fills in your name, photos, hours, map and reviews automatically.

A real website, not just links

Menus, bookings, a shop, a gallery, contact, Clay is a full site that also works as a link-in-bio, not a list of buttons.

Live in minutes, free to start

Search, pick a style, publish. No signup to see it, no credit card, and a free live address at name.clay.site.

Yours to grow

Bring a custom domain, add pro widgets, run multiple sites. It scales from a bio link to a full business site.

Your photographs, already sorted

Clay reads the pictures on your Google listing, grades them, crops them for the shape each band needs and puts the best one at the top. Nothing to upload, nothing to resize.

The pairs

Before and after, one caption between them

Two panes and one line. It is the most convincing thing a decorator can put on a page, and it is the thing a phone shows worst if it is squeezed into a grid, so here each pair takes the whole width.

A line under it does the rest: the room, the paint, and how long it took. Nobody needs a paragraph.

Rooms, not square metres

People know how many rooms they have and they do not know the floor area. A form that asks for rooms gets filled in; one that asks for measurements gets abandoned.

Photographs come with it, which is what lets your first reply be a number rather than a request for more information.

What you can switch on

Every one of these is part of your site, not a plugin to install. Turn on what you use and leave the rest off.

Questions

How long does it really take?

Most people are live in two to three minutes, search your business, pick a style, publish. There is nothing to install and no signup needed to see your site first, because it is built from your Google listing rather than from a blank page.

Is it free?

Yes. You get a live site on your own name.clay.site address with a small badge in the footer, and nothing expires. The paid plan is your own domain, the badge removed and the pro features.

Do I need any tech skills?

None. If you can type your business name, you can build a Clay site: the live page is the editor, so you tap the thing you want to change. There is no code anywhere, and nothing to install or keep updated, see the WordPress comparison for what that saves.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, buy it wherever you like and point it at Clay on a paid plan; the certificate is issued for you. Until then the free name.clay.site address is a real one you can print, and it keeps working afterwards.

Do I need professional photographs?

No, and for this trade a phone is often better: the same corner, the same light, before and after. What matters is that the pair is of the same place. Photographs are resized on our side, so a phone photograph is not a slow page.

Should interior and exterior be on one page?

One page, two bands. They are different jobs with different seasons and different searches, so they each get a heading, which is what a search engine reads. Splitting them into two sites splits your own reviews in half.

Can I show the paint brands I use?

Yes, and it is worth it. People search for a decorator by the paint they have already chosen, so naming the brands you work with puts you in a search you would otherwise miss.
