A cool, maritime merchant city of red-brick warehouses and harbour light, where understated northern reserve, a legendary music scene and Franzbroetchen define an independent, seafaring hospitality culture.

The Franzbroetchen, a buttery cinnamon pastry, is Hamburg's own and appears in every bakery and cafe. Specialty coffee thrives in the Schanze, Ottensen and Eppendorf, with flat whites and filter, and locals love a leisurely weekend brunch and a Fischbroetchen from the harbour after a late Sunday morning. Whatever your café is known for, Clay turns your Google listing into a real website, photos, hours, reviews and a map, so people in Hamburg find you and know what to expect before they visit.

Weather, and a harbour that sets the hours

A Hamburg café plans around rain the way a southern one plans around heat. The Schanze and Ottensen fill the moment it stops and empty the moment it starts, which makes an accurate open-now line worth more than any photograph, somebody deciding whether to walk twelve minutes in drizzle wants a yes or a no, not a table.

The harbour shifts are the other rhythm: an early crowd that is gone by nine and a second one that arrives at eleven, and plenty of places open at seven for exactly that reason.

Questions

How long does it really take?

Most people are live in two to three minutes, search your business, pick a style, publish. There is nothing to install and no signup needed to see your site first, because it is built from your Google listing rather than from a blank page.

Is it free?

Yes. You get a live site on your own name.clay.site address with a small badge in the footer, and nothing expires. The paid plan is your own domain, the badge removed and the pro features.

Do I need any tech skills?

None. If you can type your business name, you can build a Clay site: the live page is the editor, so you tap the thing you want to change. There is no code anywhere, and nothing to install or keep updated, see the WordPress comparison for what that saves.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, buy it wherever you like and point it at Clay on a paid plan; the certificate is issued for you. Until then the free name.clay.site address is a real one you can print, and it keeps working afterwards.

We open at seven for the early shift. Does the page show that properly?

It shows the line rather than the table: "Open until 17:00" or "Opens tomorrow at 07:00", computed from the hours on your Google listing, with the full week underneath. A day with a break in the middle keeps both of its periods rather than reading as open straight through.

Can I show that we are only open when the weather allows?

Set the hours you actually open and close a day when you are not opening, the line at the top of the page then says closed rather than showing a schedule nobody is keeping. For a Hamburg terrace that is the difference between a wasted trip and a customer who comes back.

Can I show my menu?

Yes, Clay has a menu widget with sections, prices and photos. A café that generates from Google gets a menu block pre-filled, ready for you to tweak.
